A New Year Journal Exercise recommended by Daniel Pink - (slightly paraphrased by Iain Barton)
1. look back on your last year, think of some of the regrets that come to mind ... now pick one - ideally the biggest one - but pragmatically one which you could do something about in the forthcoming year.
what was that regret?
why do you feel strongly about it?
what can you do about it for the forthcoming year?
2. now imagine that it's next year, roughly the same time. now imagine that you're looking back on this current year, and you're thinking about the regrets that you've had.
repeat the same exercise.
what can you do to make sure there is not going to happen?
and not be going to become a regret!?
