better than a hundred years of worship,

better than giving up a thousand wildly ways

in order to win merit,

better even than tending in the forest

a sacred flame for a hundred years -

is one moments reverence

for the man who has conquered himself.

we can appear to be pious and religious, going to church, the temple, the mosque, the synagogue and saying our prayers.

we can appear to be disciplined and enlightened.

but enlightenment means nothing unless it's in your soul ...
