DrBAE - Dr Barton's Aural Elixirs “Blessed are the meek” in the Bible (Matthew 5:5) is a massive mistranslation!Matthew uses the word "praeis" this is not a word of "weakness" or "passivity" as the word "meek" implies to me.Most scholars of Greek would say "praus" (singular form in Greek) has a very different meaning:- Strength under control, being powerful, disciplined and responsive in a controlled way.- Being gentle, humble but forceful in pursuing the right action.- Being calm in the face of provocation, not lashing out and losing your temper.- Trusting God and your values (if you prefer) to assert yourself to do the right thing and you are aligned with being on the right path.For me “meek” feels like a massive mistranslation, because praus should be replaced with say ...
